Hollow Form Vessel from an Elm Burl. Finished with walnut oil to 800 grit. 8” tall x 7.5” diameter with 1.75” opening. I aggressively kiln dried this piece in order to get some interesting movement in the wood. I like the way the bark inclusions left in the Burl contracted leaving depressions in the piece ... the contrast in light and dark areas along with the surface irregularities give the piece a rustic and aged feel. You can see the piece of wood I started with in one of my blog postings.
