Hollow Form Vessel from Spalted Gambles Oak with Malachite inlay. Stand and finial lid from Walnut. Vessel body is 13” diameter x 5.125” tall with 1.75” opening, 12” tall with stand and finial. Finished with walnut oil. I collected the wood from the Uncompahgre Plateau where the tree had been killed by the Bull Draw fire in the summer of 2018. This was probably the largest Gambel Oak I have ever seen and it was sad to see it killed by fire but I’m glad I was able to recover the wood and make some beautiful pieces from it.
