Here is the latest photo showing the last additions to this work.  Pyrography on bone is sure a time consuming endeavor compared to burning on other materials, but the contrast between the white bone and the shades of burned areas is so pleasing to me.  I’ve added six arrow heads and the 2 design bands at the horn bases as well as two sun symbols.

I added the dream catcher with feathers ... lots of fine detail work in this are that took a lot of time. I think I will give this piece a name and have one in mind now but will wait to share it until the piece is finished.

I finished the work bordering the eye sockets inside and out and added a Kokopelli Flute Player to each side.

Here is the progress after 8 hours.  At first the smell of burning bone is a little off putting but after a while becomes strangely pleasant. Two hour stints are about all I can stand though as it is hard on the eyes.

I’ve been wanting to create a pyrography artwork on a Buffalo skull for a while now.  I got this great skull from Dean at BUFFALOMOUNTS.COM in Cody Wyoming!  He was great to work with and the skull is really nice!  I’ll post a pic here in the blog every day or so as the work progresses.  Here is the starting point.
